A Dog Owner’s Guide to Roland Park

There are a lot of reasons to love living in Roland Park, but if you have a dog, the neighborhood might be even better.

Between the tree-lined streets, trails tucked right into the neighborhood and some of Baltimore’s best green spaces just a few minutes away, there’s no shortage of places to get outside with your pup.

Here are a few of our favorites.

Walk the Neighborhood

Honestly, one of the best places to walk your dog in Roland Park is simply Roland Park.

The neighborhood was made for long walks. Beautiful old homes, mature trees, winding streets and plenty to look at along the way make it easy to switch up your route without having to get in the car.

On warmer days, those big trees also make a huge difference when you’re trying to squeeze in a morning or evening walk before the Baltimore heat really sets in.

Explore Stony Run

One of the best parts of Roland Park is having Stony Run running right through the neighborhood.

The trail follows the stream through wooded sections of North Baltimore and feels surprisingly removed from the city in spots. It's perfect when you and your dog want something a little more interesting than your usual walk around the block.

Just be prepared for a little mud after it rains — which, depending on your dog, may be either a warning or a selling point.

Spend a Morning at Lake Roland

Just north of the neighborhood is Lake Roland, and it's one of our favorite places in the area for a longer dog walk.

There are more than 500 acres to explore, with wooded trails, paved sections, water views and plenty of different routes depending on how ambitious you and your dog are feeling that day.

Dogs are welcome throughout the park on leash.

And if your dog is the social type, Lake Roland is also home to Paw Point, a fenced, members-only dog park where dogs can run off leash and even get into the water.

Take a Walk Through Cylburn

Cylburn Arboretum is another one of those places that makes you forget you're still in Baltimore.

The 200-acre property has gardens, beautiful old trees and more than three miles of woodland trails. Dogs are welcome outside as long as they're kept on leash.

It's a great change of scenery when you want to turn your regular dog walk into more of an outing.

And When You Can't Get the Walk In...

We all have those days.

If your dog is staring at you while you're trying to finish a meeting, you're stuck at the office, or your day simply got away from you, that's where Happy Dog comes in.

We've been walking dogs in Baltimore since 2013, and Roland Park has long been one of the neighborhoods we serve.

Our dog walkers can stop by for anything from a quick midday potty break to a full hour-long walk, and we'll make sure you get an update and plenty of pictures along the way.

If you're looking for a dog walker in Roland Park, we'd love to meet you and your pup.
